The Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) has announced what it calls a Festival MOT service which will offer independent festivals a “bespoke consultation with a panel of industry experts to build resilience for events in or nearing crisis,” says the AIF.
The initiative, funded by the LIVE Trust, will aid festivals “most in need” through a selection process sourced from applications. Those selected will benefit from tailored consultation sessions, and the programme is open to both AIF member and non-member independent music festivals of any size and genre across the UK.
The consultations will include discussions and advice from industry professionals across different expertises, such as production, finance, marketing, ticketing, partnerships and more.
The AIF says the Festival MOT has been designed as a “safe, confidential but open and supportive forum” which aims to provide “tailored action plans and recommendations
for the next steps” in a festival’s journey.
Festivals can apply from today, and consultations will run throughout October, November, and December.
John Rostron, AIF CEO, said: “The independent festival sector continues to face
unprecedented challenges, with 36 festivals having fallen or postponed this year. Our
Festival MOT is designed to give organisers who are still operating but in crisis, or fearing
they are nearing crisis, a dedicated, expert and resource backed pit stop.
Whether they need a fresh perspective on production, marketing, or financial sustainability, this initiative will provide tangible, hands-on support to help independent events navigate the road ahead and build long-term resilience. We are hugely grateful to the LIVE Trust and its supporters for the opportunity to offer this bespoke service.”
