To truly appreciate the craft behind Pedro’s newest bags, you’ll have to look a little deeper than their surfaces. The latest edition of the Pedro Alyssa represents a fierce commitment to artisanship and cultural heritage in the face of machine-driven modernity—and its origins lie 7000 miles away.

The Summer 2026 capsule collection was created in collaboration with the Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI) as part of Pedro’s Future In Hand program, and features an intricate upgrade to the Alyssa bag in handwoven cotton. By harnessing EFI’s deep-rooted connections to global artisanal networks, Pedro is using their latest collection to spotlight the handiwork of cotton textile craftspeople in Burkina Faso. In what the brand describes as a “highly tactile” process, these female artisans—many of whom hail from generations of weavers—dye, stretch, and weave their distinctive cotton fabric entirely by hand. The women often rely on age-old techniques passed down through daily practice, resulting in subtle variations and imperfections that could only be created by human hands.

On the Alyssa’s boxy leather silhouette, the handwoven fabric offers a playful contrast of textures—as well as a startling reminder of the rarity of true artisanship in the modern age. The accessories might slot effortlessly into Pedro’s catalogue of sleek, everyday essentials, but they’re only the latest example of what is a dedicated commitment to conscious design. Previous initiatives have seen the homegrown brand collaborate with plastic waste upcyclers and re-use leather off-cuts, all in service of preservation and intention.

The new Alyssa bag is offered in two sizes, and will be available both online and in Pedro stores from 29 June onwards. If you happen to purchase a piece, take a minute to appreciate the subtleties of the woven handiwork, and remember—the imperfections are the point.
