Haute Couture Week is officially upon us—that much-anticipated stretch of the fashion calendar where designers lean into the fantastical and the dreamlike. The headlines so far have been dominated by Jonathan Anderson’s couture debut at Dior and Daniel Roseberry’s striking creations for Schiaparelli, but as we head into the second day of shows, there’s another name on everyone’s lips. The fashion world’s attention is pivoting firmly to 31 Rue Cambon, as Matthieu Blazy is set to unveil his first haute couture collection for Chanel.

Blazy takes on an especially weighty legacy with this collection. Chanel is intertwined with the art of haute couture in a way that few other fashion houses are, with their 31 Rue Cambon ateliers housing decades of couture and craftsmanship history. Thanks to last December’s Métiers d’Art show, we’ve already gotten a glimpse of how Blazy harnesses this maison’s famed savoir-faire. The collection shone in its attention to texture and detail, showcasing handwoven leopard tweed suits, fringed leather skirts, and feathery embellishments. Blazy has the potential to take this mastery of craftsmanship one step further by leaning into the escapism that haute couture offers—though it remains to be seen just how many risks he’s willing to take.

The teasers for the Spring/Summer 2026 Haute Couture collection have suggested a whimsical, dreamlike tone, with animated woodland animals interspersed with shots of Chanel ateliers. The setting for the show is similarly playful, featuring giant toadstool mushrooms set against a pastel pink runway. It looks like the Chanel woman will be embarking on a woodland adventure soon.

Tune in at 9 pm (SGT) on Tuesday, 27 January to see Matthieu Blazy’s vision for Chanel Haute Couture, live from Paris.
