After sharing a couple of cryptic, black-and-white teaser images, Chanel has finally put a face to its new era: Ayo Edebiri. The actress, known for her roles in The Bear and After The Hunt, is the first star to be announced as a Chanel ambassador during Matthieu Blazy’s tenure at the French fashion house.

What makes her the perfect Chanel woman to him? 

“Ayo is all strength, but at the same time, she is vulnerable enough to always put herself out there,” says Blazy in a statement. “She writes, she acts, she directs… Nothing can stop her. I admire her boldness, her beauty, her intellect, and her choice of artistic projects. She does it all while being incredibly kind and witty, with the warmest smile.”

For her part, Edebiri is a fan of the former Bottega Veneta designer, saying, “Matthieu and I clicked right away. I love his vision, both sensitive and joyful. There is ease and elegance, yet a beautiful internal power. His looks give me confidence, but I still feel like myself. I am so happy to be embarking on this adventure with Matthieu and Chanel.”

More of Blazy’s vision will come to light soon when he presents his highly-anticipated Chanel debut at Paris Fashion Week. The Chanel Spring/Summer 2026 show will be held at the Grand Palais in Paris, with celebrities like Edebiri and Blackpink’s Jennie expected to be in attendance.
