There’s nothing like the announcement of a new Chanel store to excite fashion fans. This piece of news is extra special: the French fashion brand has opened the doors to its first luxury shoe boutique in Singapore. Yes, you read that right: the store exists solely for Chanel’s fashionable footwear, including boots, slingbacks and the brand’s iconic two-tone ballet flats.

Chanel’s new store is located on the first floor of ION Orchard, occupying some 125 square metres. The space is designed by New York architect Peter Marino, who is a longtime Chanel collaborator and who recently designed the brand’s opulent two-floor flagship store on Fifth Avenue. You’ll find elements of the latter store in the equally stylish Singapore boutique: its interiors follow Chanel’s signature colour palette of black and gold, seen in the alcoves and lacquered flooring; seating comes in the form of tweed sofas; and a gilded rock crystal chandelier by the Parisian goldsmith Goossens takes centre stage.

Paintings of camellias by the American artist Peter Dayton hang on the walls, but even Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s favourite flowers will have to compete for attention with all the fancy footwear displayed in the store. Besides ballet flats, visitors can discover the covetable shoes of Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, which play with the codes of the French fashion house. Picture ankle boots with gathered silk satin running along the length of their vamps; colourful slingbacks crafted from tweed; knitted sock boots lined with bows; as well as mary jane pumps and patent leather boots featuring giant pearl heels, which were the talk of Paris Fashion Week.

What more could the Chanel woman ask for? Well, maybe the stellar pieces from Matthieu Blazy’s debut Chanel collection. But until those arrive in stores, she can have her pick of beautiful shoes at the brand’s shiny new boutique. As Coco herself once said, “A woman with good shoes is never ugly.”
