Mavis Siow’s idea of a perfect day is not complete without wearing the perfect outfit. The 28-year-old wants what we all want on our days off: the luxury of sleeping in; a cup of coffee in a quiet café in the afternoon; and dinner shared with loved ones. “And if I manage to sneak in a fire OOTD picture? That’s a 10/10 day,” she says.
Don’t mind the online lingo. It’s something that comes naturally to Siow, whose job as a digital content creator requires her to be tapped into social media trends and to speak the language of her Instagram and Tiktok followers. Funnily enough, these skills could not be farther from the ones that she studied for her other profession.
“[Most people don’t know] that I’m actually a dentist—I’m just not working as one yet,” she shares. “I’ve always had a strong interest in medical science, but what drew me specifically to dentistry is how it uniquely combines clinical knowledge with art and aesthetics. I’ve loved art since I was young, and dentistry allows me to apply that creative side in a meaningful, hands-on way.”
With her career as a dentist currently on hold, Siow expresses her creative side in other ways. On her social media, she shares Get Ready With Me videos, showcasing her takes on fashion trends that are also conveniently suitable for Singapore weather. Siow also offers her ideas for stylish outfits and makeup looks for date nights, brunches at buzzy cafés, attending a Taylor Swift concert, and anything else that would populate a cool girl’s social calendar. Siow’s followers can also be inspired by photos of the outfits she wears to glamorous events and parties around town that are thrown by fashion and beauty brands.

Serving looks—and capturing them—takes a lot of work. “I’m currently working full-time in social media and modelling, so my days are quite dynamic,” says Siow. “A typical day involves planning and storyboarding content for brand campaigns, shooting videos or photos, and then editing them for delivery. There’s a lot of creativity and coordination involved. It’s a mix of creative chaos and deadlines.”
Not that Siow is complaining. As a content creator, she gets to explore one of her first passions. “When I was just four years old, I was obsessed with dressing up Barbie dolls,” reveals Siow. “I would beg my mum for new Barbie doll outfits every week. Looking back, that was probably when fashion first found its way into my life. It felt like pure, uninhibited creativity and self-expression.”
Similarly, Siow doesn’t limit herself when she dresses up these days. Reflecting on how her style has evolved over the years, she says, “I’ve become a lot more experimental and open to trying new things. I pay more attention to trends now, but I always tweak them to reflect my own personality and preferences. I used to lean more towards minimalism, but these days my style feels more dynamic—still grounded and comfortable, but with a lot more range.”
At the moment, Siow shares that she’s inspired by contrasting textures and duality, namely in “how softness and structure can coexist in fashion”—which can be seen in Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2025 collection. As Siow tries on pieces from the collection, she tells GRAZIA Singapore all her style secrets.
Who are your style inspirations?
Mavis Siow (MS): I’d say my style aligns most closely with Hailey Bieber’s: clean, effortless, and elevated. But to be honest, my style is constantly evolving. Lately, it feels like I’m inspired by everything I see, including runway looks, streetwear, even random Pinterest pins. It’s almost like I want to embody every vibe I come across, and I let that fluidity guide how I dress each day.

What are some fashion trends that you’re currently obsessed with?
MS: Lately, I’ve been absolutely obsessed with cowboy boots and knee-high boots—even in this heat. I’m also loving butter yellow. It’s such a soft, happy shade that instantly brightens up a look and for some reason really suits my skin tone. And matching sets have been a go-to for me. They make any outfit look effortlessly bold, polished, and put-together.
What do you love about Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2025 collection?
MS: What stood out to me most was the texture play in the collection. I’m all about those subtle details that elevate an outfit without being over-the-top or difficult to wear.
What is your personal style tip for taking an outfit from day to night?
MS: Keep your base outfit simple, then swap out key accessories. Go bold on the earrings, add a statement bag, or even add a layering piece like a sleek blazer! I personally love to swap out short bottoms for a maxi skirt when transitioning into the evening. Something about maxi skirts screams elegance and refinement.

What are the accessories you can’t leave the house without?
MS: Definitely my chunky hoop earrings. They instantly elevate any look. I’m also big on statement rings, and a watch is a must for me. It pulls everything together and adds just the right touch of polish.
Do you see fashion as an important part of your self-expression?
MS: Absolutely. Fashion is one of my favourite ways to express who I am without saying a word. It reflects my mood, creativity, and how I want to show up in the world. Some days it’s bold and experimental; other days it’s minimal and grounded, but it’s always a reflection of me in that moment.
