Organisers for Byron Bay Bluesfest have gone into liquidation and cancelled the festival for 2026.
The festival released a statement on its website and social media attributing the cancellation to: “Rising production, logistics, insurance and touring costs, together with a more challenging environment for major live events, mean it is not possible to deliver the festival to the standard audiences, artists and partners expect.”
Internationally renowned metalcore band Parkway Drive who are from Byron Bay were due to perform. The band had to cancel its own festival Park Waves in December last year.
The Guardian Australia has reported that the liquidator thinks refunds will be unlikely: “At this stage it seems unlikely that you will be refunded from the liquidation any money but we will notify you if the position changes.”
AAP has reported that ticket holders have paid between $700 to $2000 for tickets to the event.
